InWorldz Viewer - Waiting patiently for next version

I am so looking forward for the next official InWorldz viewer!

I have been using Imprudence for a very long time, and I'm still very happy with it. But a few months ago when I tried the IW-viewer, it made me discover that the railing of a go-kart track I had made using Imprudence, was a total mess.

At that time I didn't try to find out why. I just hoped that it would correct itself soonish, and went back to Imprudence where I was shown what I wanted to see. A couple of weeks ago, I tried the IW-viewer again (version 1.2.7.1), and it was still like before. When I investigated, I found that the IW-viewer isn't able to show a torus with hole size less than 0.05. I had used quite a few of them when building my track.

I decided to make a Mantis, but found that there already was a recent report about it: http://inworldz.com/mantis/view.php?id=1006  (need to log in to read)

Therefore I added a note with my observations, and shortly after, which is about a month ago, the Mantis-report was closed with a "resolved".

Yay! :)

Every day for the last month, I have waited for a new version with the fix. I might still use Imprudence as my main viewer, but at least then I know that it doesn't look messed up for everyone else who aren't using Imprudence.

Yesterday I suddenly got the idea that I should check out other builds I had made, and quite correctly, I have obviously fallen in love with using toruses with hole size less than 0.05. Quite a lot looked terribly messed up. Another example is shown under.

  1. I cant use the IW Viewer as i used too as it doesnt have RLV, so i use Imp & He uses IW mostly, we are often sending each other snaps of things we view very differently, so much so, that He has now gone back to Imp too... When I did use it though, back in the very early days I am almost sure I could create 0.05... so that must have changed in an update somewhere...

  2. Thanks for your welcome, Rosa :)

I'm happy to report that yesterday I downloaded and tried the beta-version of the newest InWorldz Viewer (1.2.7.3), and the torus hole size (Y-component) limitation is indeed fixed! So toruses I have with hole size less than 0.05, will no longer show wrongly.

I'm using an old 1.4 experimental version of Imprudence from April, because all the following Imp versions, included the first 1.4 beta, make me crash often when TP-ing or just flying between different regions in IW. I hope the next Imprudence beta will fix that.
